Movies and Pancakes- A Dynamic Duo

Good day, my friends. How are you doing on this bright Sunday morning??? I'm somewhat of a 'hot mess' right now. I've been doing a juice fast since Friday and I'm breaking out like crazy on my arms and back. It's sickening!! I have a green-minty-smelling mask on myself right now to try and help it. I'm thinking that it might be my body's way of releasing some of the toxins out of my body. That's fine though. As long as my body is getting cleaned out. I just got discouraged by the Dr Natura Cleanse since I haven't noticed a difference. I'm still taking it, but I'm just doing it with the juice fast.

In other news, I'm gonna be your personal movie critic for today. I saw 'Valkyrie' on Thursday night and I was NOT a fan. It was boring, and Tom Cruise didn't have any underwear scenes. I feel like they should just be a standard in all of Tom's films. I mean, if you have a butt like that, why hide it??? After the disappointment with that movie, last night, I saw 'Marley and Me.' I read the book and of course, the book is better, but the movie still holds its own. I got a little teary-eyed in the end, so thankfully, I brought a wad of tissues.

As for food, I've been drinking a lot of juice... A LOT. But before the juice fast, I made up a recipe for pancakes in the dehydrator. It was pretty yummy. I ate them with Earth Balance and Pure Maple Syrup. I love PMS (that is too funny) because it smells amazing (again, that is just weird). Forget I mentioned pure maple syrup.

Here's the recipe:
Nutty Pancakes
1/2 cup raw walnuts
1/2 cup raw cashews
1 medium size carrot
3/4 cup fresh cranberries
1/4 cup coconut flour
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp sea salt

Directions: Throw everything in food processor and blend. Shape into balls and then flatten out and put on dehydrator sheet. I made 5 pancakes. Dehydrate for 2 and 1/2 hours on 105F. I wanted the pancakes to be soft and still have the texture of real ones, but you can dehydrate longer if you'd like.

PMS... , nice haha. But i love the raw pancakes, yummy!
Good luck with the juice fast! But question, doesn't just drinking juice leave you hungry all the time? I'm scared that will happen to me. Mom might be going to the grocery store tomorrow and if she does I'll pick up stuff to make juice, I'll try it out probably for a few days and see how it goes:]

That's a pretty sweet pancake recipe!

I could never see Marley & Me - it would turn into a total sobfest for me!

I know I say this all the time, I promise this is the last time (<- that was a lie), but I reallly want a dehydrator! What kind do you have? It seems like they range in price from like $40 to $300!!!

Anyway, your pancakes look yummy :)

I saw Valkyrie this weekend. I thought it was okay. Its not my kind of movie at all, and I'm surprised I even saw it without my husband (I went with my brother). I thought, educationally, it was slightly interesting, but thats about it. I've been avoiding seeing Marley and Me, because I'm not in a sad mood. I know I"ll see it eventually though.

what kind of juice are you drinking? and is is store bought or fresh?

have you ever done the lemonade fast?

bummer that you didn't like the movie. i want to see it for the history behind it...the things they DON'T teach us in school these days is amazing.

loved Marley and Me as well. I've never read the book and it made me really want to. You're going crazy with that dehydrator!

I have to wait until March to see Marley and Me! Boo!
I loved the book though, and I will be taking an entire box of tissues to the cinema for that one!

Raw pancakes? Awesome! And Tom Cruise drives me crazy, I feel like he plays himself in every movie he's in. Except for Tropic Thunder! He had a tiny role, but they put a fat suit and tons of makeup on him and made him dance, so that was funny. How could that not be funny, though, right?

PMS lover! PMS lover!! :)

Hopefully your body will get over it soon and your skin will go back to normal.

Wow, dehydrator pancakes, you're like the Dehydrator Queen now!

They look pretty good! I'm not sure I'll invest in a dehydrator for now though. But maybe you'll convince me at some point!

Hahaha I like NOTHING about PMS (well, maybe of the maple syrup variety I do!).

I've been dying to read Marley and Me but I'm just too scared I'll end up a sobbing wreck by the end of it!

Good luck with your juice fast!

I read Marley and Me and it is one of the best books I've ever read! I'm such a dog person though. I can't wait to see the movie.

I love your Pegasus plate. Hercules is the best Disney cartoon.

very cool on the juice fast, Joanna! keep us posted.

i'm intrigued by your raw food recipes. i think i might have already asked you this question, but i'm broke and don't own a dehydrator--could one use their oven to dehydrate food if the temp was on say, 200 degrees? i'm not sure if my oven goes any lower. i'm gonna get crafty and make some power bars with a recipe in vegan-a-go-go because i just don't feel like paying $1.50 for a fucking lara bar anymore.

Oh those have got to be the healthiest pancakes ever! I need to try those...and eat healthier like you. :) I saw Marley & Me (on Christmas of all days) after our Christmas celebration. I didn't want to go because you know me and animals....of course I BAWLED like a baby even though Marley had a wonderful life I still hate seeing animals go.

I had muffins today, and I totally thought of you!

If that is toxins coming out, that is really cool. I hope your skin is smooth soft and sparkly in a few days. :)

Hmm, well I'm hoping this juice fast will help me lose weight. I have been drinking tons of drinks though to keep me full and coffee to keep me going enrgy wise ( but I always drink coffee anyway haha)
So how has yours been going? Still difficult?

thanks for the movie review! I couldn't help but laugh loudly (underwear scenes should be a standard for Tom Cruise) :D

And great pancake recipe too!

tom cruise has gone downhill. I won't even watch his movies anymore! it's probably because of what you said - more underwear scenes!

have you ever watched uncle buck before? it's so funny and you'll see the craziest pancake making scene ever in that movie.
